IT Asset Disposition
What is ITAD?
Information Technology Asset Disposition, or ITAD, is the secure and responsible process of retiring company hardware such as laptops, servers, storage devices, mobile phones, and networking equipment.
Instead of requiring your IT team to remove individual hard drives or coordinate several different vendors, a professional ITAD provider manages the complete process: from collection and asset auditing to data destruction, reuse, recycling, and final reporting.
We collect fully assembled devices, securely erase or physically destroy the stored data, and determine whether each asset should be reused, remarketed, or responsibly recycled.
Close the Compliance Gap Beyond Data Wiping
Wiping protects functional devices. A complete ITAD program must also securely process devices that cannot be wiped.
Data Destruction is Not the Final Step
After an HDD or SSD is physically destroyed, the remaining device and electronic components must still be transferred to an approved e-waste processing facility.
Your ITAD provider must be able to show:
- Where the equipment is sent.
- Who is authorized to process it.
- How each asset is tracked after destruction.
- What documentation confirms final disposal.
Without a verified downstream route, businesses may face:
- Gaps in the chain of custody
- Environmental compliance risks
- Additional vendors and handoffs
One Provider. One Controlled Processing Route
Luckily International operates its own Ministry of Environment-approved e-waste processing facility in New Taipei City.
This keeps every asset within one documented workflow:
- Asset auditing and serial-number tracking
- Certified data wiping
- HDD and SSD physical destruction
- Refurbishment and value recovery
- Approved e-waste processing
- Certificate issuance and final compliance reporting
Our ITAD Process
Requirement Assessment
We begin by understanding your asset types, data security requirements, compliance obligations, and preferred service model (on-site or off-site). A tailored ITAD scope and quotation will be provided before execution.
On-Site Collection
Our team coordinates with your designated PIC to cross-verify asset quantities on-site, ensuring the collected items match the confirmed inventory before transfer of custody.
Certified Data Destruction
All devices undergo secure data wiping or physical destruction based on your security policy and regulatory needs. Processes follow recognized standards to ensure data is permanently irrecoverable.
Recycling or Remarketing
Assets are assessed for reuse, refurbishment, or material recycling. Reusable equipment may be remarketed to maximize value recovery, while end-of-life assets are processed through approved recycling channels.
Certificate Issuance & Final Reporting
Upon completion, we issue official documentation such as Certificates of Destruction (COD) and Recycling Reports. These records support internal audits, regulatory compliance, and ESG reporting requirements.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
We provide a Certificate of Destruction (CoD) for every asset. This document serves as a legal paper trail, confirming that your data was wiped or the physical drive was destroyed according to industry standards (like NIST 800-88).
Typically, the audit and data destruction process is completed within 15–30 business days of arrival at our facility, followed immediately by your final compliance reports.
If a device cannot be accessed via software, it is automatically flagged for physical destruction. We ensure the storage platters are destroyed so no data can ever be recovered.
