HDD/SSD Destruction in Taiwan

Data Wiping

What is Data Wiping

Data wiping is a secure erasure method that uses software to permanently remove data from a storage device.

Unlike normal deletion or formatting, data wiping is designed to make the original data unrecoverable while keeping the device usable.

This method is commonly used when a company wants to reuse, resell, or redeploy laptops, desktops, servers, hard drives, or SSDs.

After the wiping process, a data erasure report or certificate is be provided to support internal audit, compliance, and asset tracking.

What happens when a device cannot be wiped?

Locked or Damaged devices
Not every device can be successfully wiped. Some may be iCloud-locked, MDM-locked, damaged, missing parts, or unable to power on.
Failed Wiping still needs action
If software wiping cannot be completed, the device should not be left as an unresolved risk. It still needs secure handling, clear tracking, and proper documentation.
Compliance goes beyond software?
Data wiping protects functional devices, but faulty equipment may require physical destruction or licensed e-waste processing. This is where software-only providers may not be enough.
One controlled ITAD process
Luckily International is an MOE-approved e-waste processing facility in Taiwan. We can handle data wiping, failed-device destruction, environmental processing, and final reporting under one controlled workflow.
Process Flow

Our Data Wiping Process

1

Requirement Assessment

We first confirm your project needs and security requirements. - Device type and quantity - HDD or SSD storage type - Onsite or offsite service needs - Required wiping standard - Reporting and certificate requirements

2

Secure Collection or Onsite Preparation

For offsite service, we collect the devices from your location and transport them securely to our facility. For onsite service, our team prepares the devices at your premises before wiping. - Onsite wiping when devices cannot leave your location - Offsite wiping for larger batches or standard ITAD projects - Asset details can be recorded before wiping if required

3

Data Wiping

Each storage device is processed using professional data wiping software. The wiping process is designed to make the original data unrecoverable while keeping the device reusable.

4

Wiping Result Check

After wiping, we verify the result of each device. Devices are recorded as: - Successfully wiped - Failed to wipe - Physically damaged -Requires physical destruction If a device fails the wiping process, we will prioritize physical destruction to ensure the data cannot be recovered. This helps prevent data risk when a device is damaged, locked, unstable, or unable to complete the wiping process.

5

Report and Certificate

After completion, we provide the required documentation for audit and compliance records. This may include: - Data wiping report - Device asset list - Serial number - Wiping result - Data erasure certificate This gives your team clear proof that the data was securely erased and properly documented.
